The Anderson Family Farm

Five Generations on the Land in Oregon’s Willamette Valley

For over a century, our family has worked the rolling foothills outside Brownsville, Oregon — raising sheep, growing grass seed, building soil, and passing a way of life from one generation to the next. This land isn’t just where we ranch; it’s where our children grew up, where our livestock graze, and where five generations of Andersons have learned the rhythms of the Willamette Valley.

We believe our farm should be more than a business. It should be a complete ecosystem — humans, animals, grass, soil, each supporting the other.

Grass Seed Farming: The Heart of the Ranch

When you really think about it, we're just holistic grass farmers.. Growing grass for generations to feed our sheep and breed a better forage for them in the process.

Our farm grows a variety of cool-season grasses perfectly adapted to Oregon’s climate. These grasses are the foundation of our entire operation:

  • They create the lush forage our sheep thrive on

  • They support our year-round 100% grass-fed program

  • Their by-products (straw, screenings) feed our compost system

  • They create the fertile soil that keeps our ranch sustainable

Most ranches buy feed.

We grow the feed, raise the sheep, and return nutrients back to the soil.

That’s sustainability you can see.

Closing The Loop : Keeping It All In-House

Our family farm operates as a genuine closed-loop system:

  • Sheep bred and raised by our family farm → consistent high quality cuts

  • Sheep graze the grasses → fertilizes pastureland naturally

  • Grass seed collected and planted or sold → supporting farm growth

  • Grass seed by-product composted → fertilizes the pastureland

  • Wool converted to fertilizer pellets (learn more) → feeds YOUR soil

  • Processing facility owned by us → complete control of quality

  • Processing facility by-product composted → fertilizes the pastureland

If you want to know where your food comes from, support a farm that keeps it all in-house - our grass, our sheep, our processing, our packing, all for you.
